Izzie: AKA Izziebot, Izzie-bot, IzzieBytes, Izari, or just Isa (confused yet?)

Good hair day.

‘ello, world! I’m an all-around geek living in the greater Boston metropolitan area currently empoyed in the publishing industry as a graphic designer . My interests vary greatly from video and table-top gaming, food, politics, art, books, entertainment, sci-fi, social issues, and a ton of other random and sometimes oddball stuff. I’m a serial hobbyist, as I put it, so you’re likely to find pretty much a bit of everything here.

As far as gaming goes, I’m a former MMO connoisseur  gone to the dark side of MOBAs. I’d say my favorite current games are Guild Wars, League of Legends, and Minecraft. Other gaming obsessions include Starcraft, Yahtzee, and Settlers. I also enjoy console fighting games like Soul Calibur and am shamelessly in love with Dance Central.

I love to attend conventions: I’ve been terrorizing them since I was 16 and have recently ventured into PAX as my primary expo, and AnimeNext which I volunteer with.

History: I started this blog about five years ago on a terrible site called Greatest Journal and when Guild Wars was my main MMO. At first I wanted to simply document all the stupid shit I did online, but eventually I thought I’d expand my horizons. Greatest Journal imploded so I moved to Insane Journal, a relocation that was very short lived.

While there, I made a 2nd blog for Warcraft and eventually decided it was pretty stupid to have a separate blog for every game on a site that was worse than Geoshities.

I then settled with blogger/blogspot for it’s ease of use and link to my Google account. In the move I imported all 4 years of internet tomfoolery from both games and beyond into one, festering cesspit for you, the internet, to enjoy. After another two years I would made my way over to WordPress. Not even a year later, I bought this domain. And so the blog is here as you see it, still mostly a record of my stupidity on the internet and in real life.

Future: My hopes are to work for a publication, either print or digital, that centers around something I’m truly interested in. I currently work at a boating magazine which is all fine and dandy but I will never afford a boat (and the world is probably better off without me behind the helm of one!) and I still have no idea what “starboard side” means. Even though I’m predominantly a designer and artist, I also love writing and am taking the blog-mania as an opportunity to hone my skills and get my thoughts out there (not too bad for someone with no formal training, right? Right??)

Until then, I hope those who come across this twisted piece of the massive blogosphere can get a good chuckle, leave a comment, and come back for more.

    Really interesting stuff!
I just started my first blog on wordpress for Guild Wars/Guild Wars 2 and would love feedback from a professional (you are, don’t deny it!)!  I have no training in art or design (I am studying for my Masters in the social sciences) at all but am really interested in getting involved in the blog-o-sphere! I have been playing Guild Wars for a little while now and am really enjoying the Prophecies campaign!

  • Had a few good reads on this blog of yours. Made me chuckle many a times and now I’m leaving my (final) comment here for you to read. I do not want to come across as a spammer or a know-it-all, but since you kinda work at a boating company, I thought I might help you out here:

(From wikipedia) Port and starboard are nautical terms which refer to the left and right sides, respectively, of a ship as perceived by a person on board facing the bow (front). At night, the port side of a vessel is indicated with a red navigation light and the starboard side with a green one.

So there you have it. One mystery of life solved. Here’s hoping I didn’t kill your good mood in the process 😉 Anyways, definitely keep writing, drawing and gaming, so that by the next time I’ll be around here, I’ll have another hour filled with a few good chuckles ;p

    Cheers
